Missed Periods - Earliest Pregnancy Symptom
Nothing hits in the heart of a woman like missed period does;
unless she is trying to get pregnant. Whenever the period is delayed the first thing she can think of is
pregnancy; however pregnancy is not the only reason for the women to have a late period. Here are some of the
most common reasons of missed period
Stress: Stress affects many aspects of our lives; this
includes periods as well. Sometimes the woman is so stressed that its body decreases the production of the
hormone termed (GnRH). The lack of this hormone causes the woman to not ovulate and menstruate. A midwife or
a doctor can better help her to figure out what she needs for relaxing and getting back on
schedule.
Illness: Sometimes a sudden, long or even short illness
can cause the woman to delay her period. Normally this is temporary.
Schedule changes: Some changes in schedule may throw off the body
clock. This is specifically true if a person goes from night’s to day’s work or vie
versa
Medication Changes: A missed or delayed period can also be the
outcome of trying some new medicine. One must be sure to talk to her midwife about the side effects of new
medications. It is normal with some techniques of birth control.
Being Overweight: Putting on extra weight can either shift or stop
the cycles. Few women can notice a return towards the normal cycle and fertility by losing some
weight.
Being Underweight: If a woman does not have enough fats, she will
not have the regular cycles. Sometimes it causes the periods to stop completely. This is also termed
amenorrhea. Weight gains aids here to get the regular cycles. This is the usual cause of missed period in
professional athletes or in women who go for the extreme and intense work out.
Miscalculation: The cycle length varies from woman to woman. On
an average the menstrual cycles are around 28 days long. But this is not right for all. Sometimes the women
believe there periods get delayed when actually they have miscalculated. If a woman has irregular cycles, she
must look for periods around two weeks after ovulation. This enables the woman to keep the track of
periods.
Pre-Menopause: It is a period when a woman is transitioning
from reproductive to non reproductive age. Her periods may be heavier, lighter, less frequent or more
frequent. If a woman does not want to become pregnant she must continue to use birth control pills because
she can still be fertile at this time.
Menopause: It is the stage of life when a woman does not
menstruate or ovulate. It is a natural event of life and can take place either naturally or
surgically.
Pregnancy:
The most common reason however of the missed period of a sexually active woman is
pregnancy. A simple pregnancy test can help her to confirm her pregnancy.
